The front idler excavator (guide wheel) is used to guide the correct rotation of the track to prevent deviation and derailment. The excavator track idler (guide wheels) of some hydraulic excavators also play the role of trackrollers, which can increase the contact area between the track and the ground and reduce the specific ground pressure. Most of the wheel surfaces of the guide wheel are smooth, with a shoulder ring in the middle as a guide, and the rings on both sides can support the chain and play the role of supporting the rollers. The shoulder ring in the middle of the guide wheel (guide wheel) should have sufficient height, and the slope on both sides should be small. The smaller the distance between the guide wheel and the nearest roller, the better the guiding performance.
The guide wheel material is usually 40 steel, 45 steel or 35Mn cast steel, quenched and tempered, and the hardness should reach 230~270HB.
below pics shows the structure of the idler on excavator (guide wheel). The guide wheel is mounted on the idler excavator shaft 5 through two sliding bearings 9 in the hole, and both ends of the shaft 5 are fixed on the right carriage 11 and the left carriage 4. . The left and right carriages are mounted on the guide plate 18 on the trolley frame through the seat plate 16 pressed by the support spring fitting 14, and at the same time, the lower hook plane of the carriage is close to the guide plate 17, thereby eliminating the gap. . Therefore, the carriage can smoothly slide back and forth along the guide plates 17 and 18 on the trolley frame.
